Condition Notes

In excellent condition. The brushed black fascia is clean and unmarked, with no scratches around the selector and volume knobs and no wear to the display window. The chassis top and rear panel are free of marks, and both WiFi antennas are present and undamaged. Everything functions exactly as it should.

Supplied complete with the C25 system remote, both antennas, power cable and original factory packaging.

The PRE35 Prisma is the piece that makes a separates system simple again. Preamplifier, digital converter and network player share one chassis and one power supply, which removes two interconnects, two mains leads and two shelves from the equation. Add a power amplifier and a pair of speakers and the system is finished.

The analogue heart of it is a fully balanced preamplifier stage, and Primare have been unusually disciplined about keeping it quiet: better than 105 dB signal to noise with the digital boards sitting in the same box is harder than it sounds, and it is the reason this does not feel like a compromise against a dedicated preamplifier. Two sets of balanced XLR outputs at 380 Ω mean you can run a power amplifier from one and a subwoofer or second amplifier from the other, over long cable runs, without splitters degrading anything.

The DM36 module handles conversion from four optical and two coaxial inputs plus a USB connection for a computer, so legacy sources and a laptop all land in the same place. The SM35 Prisma module brings the streaming: Roon Ready certification alongside AirPlay 2, Chromecast built in, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, Tidal and Qobuz, all driven from the Prisma app or straight from whatever you already use.

There is also a WiSA wireless speaker output, which is the sort of feature that sounds like a gimmick until you need it - a set of compatible active speakers can run from this with no speaker cable and no power amplifier at all, while the balanced outputs keep driving the main system.

Buying this used is the sensible way to own one. Both modules are fitted from the factory, which is the expensive configuration, and the chassis is built to the standard Primare have maintained in Sweden for decades.
