Condition Notes

Please note the cosmetic damage. There is a chip to the veneer at the top right corner of the front baffle, along with some light scuffing across the upper baffle. Both are confined to the baffle face, and both are completely hidden once the grille is fitted — the PB17 uses a full-face grille that covers the entire front of the cabinet, so in normal use the subwoofer presents as unmarked. The top, sides, back and the driver itself are clean, and the fault is purely cosmetic. This is the reason for the price.

Everything else is as it should be. Functionally perfect, supplied with its grille and port plugs. One only.

The PB17-Ultra is the top of the SVS range and it is not subtle about it. A 17-inch glass-fibre composite driver on an eight-inch dual voice coil, with nearly 49 mm of linear excursion, sits in a triple-ported cabinet driven by a 2,800 watt RMS Sledge amplifier that peaks past 6,000 watts. In extended tune it reaches 12 Hz. That is infrasonic territory, the band you feel through the floor rather than hear, and very few subwoofers at any price get there with real output behind them.

Three tuning modes come from the supplied port plugs: all ports open for maximum output, one plugged for extended reach to 12 Hz, or all plugged for sealed operation and the tightest transient behaviour. You choose in the app, and the rear OLED panel mirrors it.

Connectivity is the full set, which matters at this level: balanced XLR in and out alongside unbalanced RCA in and out, a 12 V trigger, an IR input and a USB port for firmware and the SoundPath wireless adapter. Setup runs over Bluetooth from the SVS app with parametric EQ, a low pass filter adjustable in 1 Hz steps across four slopes, room gain compensation, continuously variable phase and three saveable presets.

At 74.7 kg it is a two-person lift and it needs a room with the volume to justify it. Given what it does, that is a reasonable trade.
