Condition Notes

This Monitor Audio Silver C250 7G came off our own demonstration floor and is in excellent condition. The High Gloss Black lacquer is deep and clean with no notable marks, the C-CAM cones and gold dome tweeter are unmarked, and the gold-plated bi-wire terminals are as new with their links fitted. The magnetic grille is included. One only, at a substantial saving over the $1,499 RRP.

Most centre speakers are a two-way design turned on its side, which is why dialogue so often thins out or wanders as you move off the middle seat. The C250 is a genuine three-way: a dedicated 3-inch RST II midrange sits between the tweeter and the twin 5.25-inch bass drivers and carries the voice band on its own, so the horizontal driver array stops fighting itself and the centre image holds across the whole couch.

The cabinet is sealed rather than ported, which matters more for a centre than for anything else in a system, because a centre usually ends up in a cabinet or hard against a wall where a port would turn boomy. Sealed loading keeps the low end tight and makes placement predictable.

It shares its driver technology with the Silver floorstanders, so voices keep the same tonal character as they pan across the front three channels rather than changing colour at the centre. Pair it with Silver 100, 200 or 300 and give it 80 watts or more.
