Condition Notes

This Primare SPA25 Prisma came off our own demonstration floor and is in excellent condition. The brushed titanium fascia is clean with no notable marks, the volume control turns smoothly, and the rear panel and terminals are unmarked. It is complete with the C25 system remote, the Dirac measurement microphone, the power cord and the documentation, in the original carton. One only, at a substantial saving over the $9,750 RRP.

The SPA25 is what happens when a hi-fi company builds a cinema amplifier rather than a receiver manufacturer adding music features afterwards. Primare has made two-channel amplifiers in Sweden for decades, and the SPA25 carries that approach across: nine channels instead of eleven or thirteen, with the budget spent on each one rather than on the count.

The power rating tells you the philosophy. 90 watts per channel with all nine driven, not a headline number measured two at a time, and 145 watts into 8 ohms when only two are working. Most receivers quote the second figure and hope you do not ask about the first.

Dirac Live is included with a Limited Bandwidth licence, which handles the frequencies where room correction actually earns its keep. Nine channels covers 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 on board, and 7.1.4 once you add a stereo power amplifier to the pre-outs.

Music is treated as a first-class source rather than a tolerated one. Two ESS ES9026PRO converters handle 768 kHz and 32-bit and DSD512 over USB, and the full Prisma platform brings Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify Connect. In two-channel this behaves like a Primare integrated, which is not something most cinema amplifiers can claim.

One honest note so the fit is clear: HDMI here is 2.0b with 4K passthrough, Dolby Vision, HDR and HDR10+, not 8K. If your display plans stop at 4K, which for most people they do, this is irrelevant.
