The Primare I25 is a full width integrated amplifier delivering 100W into 8Ω and 200W into 4Ω from Primare's own UFPD 2 Class D topology. As standard it is analogue only, with five line inputs and no converter, because the modular platform lets you add the DM36 DAC board and the SM35 Prisma streaming board later. That means the amplifier you buy today does not become the wrong amplifier when your sources change.

Why You'll Love It

• The upgrade path is real. The DM36 converter and SM35 streaming modules slot into this chassis at any time, so the box grows with the system instead of being replaced by it.
• UFPD 2, developed in house. Primare's own Class D topology gives 100W into 8Ω doubling to 200W into 4Ω, with signal to noise better than 100dB measured to AES17.
• Analogue kept analogue. With no modules fitted there is no digital circuitry in the chassis at all, which is a legitimate starting point if your sources are already sorted.

CHT Insider Verdict

The modularity is the argument for the 25 series and it is a good one, provided you actually intend to use it. If you know today that you want streaming, the I25 Prisma bought as one unit works out cheaper than buying this and adding both boards later. Buy the base I25 when you have sources you like and want the money in the amplifier, not in a converter you will not use.

Pro Tip: Note that the MM15 phono board fits the I15, not this. There is no phono module for the 25 series, so a turntable needs an outboard stage such as the R15 or R35 regardless of which I25 you choose.
