The Primare A35.8 is an eight channel power amplifier built around Hypex NCore500 modules, with each adjacent pair bridgeable to mono. That gives 150W into 8Ω across eight channels, or 740W into 8Ω across four, or any sensible combination in between. It suits a full surround system, a bi-amped stereo pair, or a system that starts as one and becomes the other.

Why You'll Love It

• The configuration is yours. Each pair of channels bridges independently, so seven channels of surround plus a bridged pair for the front left and right is a legitimate setup.

This is a specialist purchase and it is very good at what it does. If you are running a processor and need real power on every channel, the A35.8 delivers it without four separate boxes generating four separate earth paths. It is also a quietly clever stereo amplifier if you bridge two pairs and bi-amp. Overkill for a simple two channel system, which is what the A35.2 is for.

Pro Tip: Bridging halves the load impedance the modules see, so check your speakers before bridging into anything below 8Ω. Two bridged pairs into 8Ω speakers is the safe, and very capable, configuration.
