The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is a slimline two way built around a 6 inch C-CAM RST III mid-bass driver and the 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter, in a cabinet just 135mm deep. It is sold as a single speaker, so a left and right pair means ordering two. Monitor Audio designs it to work either as an LCR set around a screen or as side and rear effects channels, mounted horizontally or vertically.

Why You'll Love It

• Real bass from a wall mount. A 6 inch driver and a Silent Flow port tuned to 47Hz take it to 44Hz in room, which is well beyond what most on-wall designs manage.
• Mount it either way. The slim cabinet works horizontally under a screen or vertically beside one, so the same speaker covers left, centre, right and surround duty in one system.
• The easiest load in the range. A minimum impedance of 5.5Ω and 88dB sensitivity make it undemanding, which matters when it is running off one channel of a multi-channel amplifier.

This is the model that makes a full Silver 8G system possible in a room where floorstanders are not welcome. Read the pair and single detail carefully, because unlike the rest of the range this one is priced and sold individually, so a five channel system needs five of them. 

Pro Tip: Because it is ported, the wall behind it becomes part of the bass response. Mounting on a solid brick or concrete wall will sound tighter than plasterboard, and if you only have plasterboard, fixing into a stud rather than an anchor is worth the extra effort.
