Condition Notes

This pair of Monitor Audio Silver 300 7G floorstanders came off our own demonstration floor and is in excellent condition. The High Gloss Black lacquer is deep and clean on both cabinets with no notable marks, the C-CAM cones and gold dome tweeters are unmarked, and the gold-plated bi-wire terminals are as new with their links fitted. Both magnetic grilles are included. One pair only, at a substantial saving over the $3,799 RRP.

The Silver 300 is where the range stops compromising. Unlike the 2.5-way models below it, this is a true three-way: a dedicated 3-inch RST II midrange driver in its own sealed sub-enclosure handles the vocal band on its own, freeing the twin 6-inch bass drivers to do nothing but move air. The audible result is a midrange that stays clear and unhurried when the bass is working hard, which is exactly the point at which smaller floorstanders start to congest.

That arrangement reaches 31 Hz with twin HiVe II rear ports tuned to 40 Hz, and handles 200 watts, so it fills a mid to large room without strain. Rigid Surface Technology II dimples the metal cones to push break-up above the working band, and the 1-inch C-CAM gold dome sits in a Uniform Dispersion waveguide that keeps the top end even across a wide seating area.

Give them 80 watts or more of real amplifier and a little room to breathe behind. As a stereo pair they scale properly with orchestral and large-scale material, and as the front left and right of a cinema they carry the weight that lets the subwoofer concentrate on the bottom octave.
