Condition Notes

These two Monitor Audio Anthra W15 subwoofers came off our own demonstration floor and are both in excellent condition. The Gloss Black lacquer is deep and clean on both cabinets with no notable marks, the drivers are unmarked and the rear panels and connections are as new. Each is supplied with its magnetic grille. Priced individually, at a substantial saving over the $4,999 RRP each.

If you have been considering a pair, this is the rare moment where two matched units from the same batch are available at once. Two subwoofers in a room is not about more bass; it is about smoothing the standing waves that make one seat sound thick and the next sound thin. The Anthra range supports linking up to four units, and the app handles the grouping.

The W15 is the largest of the three Anthra subwoofers and it is sealed, not ported. A 15-inch C-CAM cone with Rigid Surface Technology II and 50 mm of peak-to-peak excursion sits in a braced 25 mm MDF cube with a 36 mm front baffle, driven by a 1,400 watt Class D amplifier Monitor Audio designed in house rather than buying in. Sealed loading gives it the transient precision a ported box has to work for, and it still reaches 16 Hz at the minus 6 dB point.

Setup happens two ways. The rear panel carries a 2-inch colour screen and a rotary encoder for volume, low pass filter and preset selection. Everything deeper runs through the MaestroUnite app: three factory presets for music, movies and impact, plus three custom slots each with eight bands of parametric EQ, phase adjustable across the full 360 degrees, and over-the-air firmware. Connections cover unbalanced RCA in and out and balanced XLR in and out, so it drops into a professional install as readily as a living room.
