One-touch vinyl with the phono stage built in

The Denon DP-29F Fully Automatic Turntable with Phono Preamp is a fuss-free way back into vinyl. It carries a built-in switchable RIAA phono equaliser, so it connects to any amplifier or receiver through a standard analogue connection, even one without a phono input. A moving magnet cartridge is fitted from the factory, so you can start playing records straight away.

Why You'll Love It

  • Phono stage built in. The switchable RIAA phono equaliser lets you connect to any line input, so a separate phono preamp is not required.
  • Fully automatic. One touch starts play, and at the end of the side the tone arm returns and rotation stops on its own, which helps protect your records.
  • Ready out of the box. A factory-fitted moving magnet cartridge means you can connect it to your hi-fi and drop the needle the same day.

Under the Hood

  • Rigid aluminium build. A diecast aluminium platter gives uniform inertial mass for stable, even rotation during playback.
  • Belt drive, DC servo motor. A quiet DC servo motor with belt drive spins at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm with wow and flutter of 0.15% WRMS.
  • Cue by hand when you want. A manual lifter lets you place the needle anywhere on the record to skip to a track mid-side.

CHT Insider Verdict

The DP-29F is an honest, low-hassle turntable for anyone restarting a record collection or wanting a simple deck that just works. The automatic start and return take the nerves out of playback, and the built-in phono stage means it will connect to almost any system. It is a sensible first turntable that respects your records.

Pro Tip: If your amplifier already has a dedicated phono input, switch the built-in equaliser off and run the DP-29F into that input instead, then keep a spare DSN-82 stylus on hand for when playback loses its sparkle.
