The Hodr is the first three-chip projector in the Barco Residential range: three 0.9" DMDs in a sealed optical core, laser phosphor, 7,500 lumens and DCI-P3 colour with DynaBlack. Three chips mean no colour wheel and no rainbow at any brightness, and it is the point in the range where a 5-metre screen, or a living room with daylight, becomes routine.

16:9 or Cinemascope

The Cinemascope Hodr maps the DMDs to a native 2.37:1 image (5120 × 2160) at 5,600 lumens; a scope screen is filled with no anamorphic lens.

Lens

Supplied with the TLD+ 1.50–2.00:1. The TLD+ family covers 0.37:1 ultra-short-throw to 11:1; four of the mid-range lenses are included at no charge, so throw is rarely a compromise.

Where it sits

The Hodr is louder than the Heimdall (43 dB) and needs a projection room or hush box in a dedicated cinema; in a large media room it is the right tool. Its 4K UHD is XPR rather than native and it is HDMI 2.0. For more light still, the Njord; for native 4K at this brightness, the Freya.
