The Heimdall is the current-generation Barco Residential projector and the one that changes the conversation. Native 4K (4096 × 2176) from a single 4K DMD, an RGB laser light source covering 98% of Rec.2020, DynaBlack frame-by-frame laser dimming for up to 20,000:1, HDMI 2.1 with 4K at 120 Hz, and 30 dB at the projector. In a compact chassis at 31 kg.

Heimdall or Heimdall+

Identical projectors apart from light output: 4,500 lumens or 6,000. The Heimdall covers a 4-metre scope screen in a dark room with headroom for HDR; the Heimdall+ is for wider screens, lower-gain acoustically transparent screens, or rooms that are not fully dark.

16:9 or Cinemascope

The Cinemascope Heimdall maps the 4K DMD to a native 2.37:1 image of up to 6144 × 2592, so a scope screen is filled with no anamorphic lens and no lens memory. 16:9 content is shown pillarboxed.

Lens

Supplied with the FLDX EN61 (1.70–2.50:1) via the required Heimdall lens holder adapter. Seven lenses cover 0.53:1 to 4.05:1 on this body, including the new FLC EN83 wide zoom. Lens is specified against the room.

Where it sits

This is the Barco for a dedicated cinema up to about 4.5 metres of screen: native 4K, wider colour, lower noise and HDMI 2.1 in the one box. Above it, the three-chip Hodr and Njord add light for very large screens; the Freya adds the Series 4 cinema platform.
