A reference-tier component supplied by specification and private consultation, matched to your room, delivered and calibrated. We'll prepare a tailored proposal for you.
A proposal covers the component, professional installation and full calibration, matched to your room and priced as a finished result, not just the box.
Overview
- 4K UHD Resolution (3,840 x 2,160)
- Laser Phosphor
- Up to 7,000 ANSI Lumens
The Balder is the core of the Barco Residential range: a single-chip laser-phosphor 4K projector on the Pulse platform with enough light for a 4-metre screen and the same optics, lenses and processing as the rest of the line. It is the projector we specify for most dedicated cinemas between 3 and 4.5 metres of screen width.
Colour wheel: T or DCI-P3
The T wheel gives you 5,000 lumens at Rec.709; the DCI-P3 wheel trades brightness for gamut, 4,000 lumens covering the full P3 colour space. For HDR film in a dark room on a screen up to about 3.5 metres, P3 is the one. For a larger screen, a brighter room or a lot of sport, T.
16:9 or Cinemascope
The Cinemascope Balder maps the DMD to a native 2.37:1 image (5120 × 2160) so a scope screen is filled with no anamorphic lens and no lens memory. Brightness is 3,600–4,000 lumens depending on wheel.
Lens
Supplied with the FLDX EN61 (1.70–2.50:1). The FLDX family runs from 0.38:1 ultra-short-throw to 4.60:1; lens is specified against the room.
Where it sits
Above the Bragi on brightness; below the Heimdall on resolution (4K UHD via XPR rather than native 4K), contrast (no DynaBlack) and connectivity (HDMI 2.0, no 4K120). If the room is film-only and the budget stretches, the Heimdall is the step up. If the room is large or bright, the Hodr.
Supplied, installed and calibrated by CHT
CHT Solutions is an authorised Barco Residential dealer and Barco-certified for installation. Every Barco we supply is specified for the room, installed by us, aligned to the screen and RealColor-calibrated on site. Price is quoted per project: lens, colour wheel, mount, installation and calibration all move it, which is why there is no number on this page. Tell us the room and we will tell you the number.
Equipment is only half the science. The room is the other half.
