Flagship Technology in a Bookshelf

The Polk Audio Reserve R200 Bookshelf Speakers bring technology from Polk's flagship Legend series down to a bookshelf you can actually afford. A 6.5-inch turbine cone woofer and Polk's Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter deliver impactful bass and a wide, detailed soundstage, whether you run them as a stereo pair or as the front of a home theatre. Sold as a pair.

Why You'll Love It

  • Real bass from a bookshelf. The larger 6.5-inch turbine cone woofer and bigger cabinet give the R200 genuine low-end punch, so it fills a room and can stand on its own for music without a subwoofer.
  • A wider sweet spot. The Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter spreads high frequencies evenly around the room, so the sound stays open and detailed from more than just one seat.
  • Flagship technology, real value. The R200 inherits Polk's Legend-series transducer array and rivals speakers that cost twice as much.

Under the Hood

  • Reserve transducers. A 1-inch Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter and 6.5-inch turbine cone woofer, crossing over at 3 kHz.
  • Clean, tight bass. Polk's proprietary X-Port design cuts the port noise that muddies bass, for a tighter, cleaner low end.
  • Serious cabinet. A cross-braced cabinet with rounded corners reduces internal resonance and diffraction, and Hi-Res Audio certification means response out to 50 kHz.

CHT Insider Verdict

The R200 is a lot of speaker for the money, and one of the best-value bookshelves we sell. The extra woofer size over the smaller R100 gives it noticeably more bass, making it just as happy on stands as a stereo pair as it is anchoring the front of a home theatre. Just pair it with a capable amplifier, as it dips to 3.8 ohms and rewards a bit of power. Sold as a pair.

Pro Tip: The R200 has a rear-firing X-Port, so give it 20 to 30 cm of space from the wall behind for the cleanest, tightest bass. Pushed hard against the wall it will sound fuller but can get boomy, so pull it out a little if you want the bass to stay controlled.

Will it suit my system? Check it works with your room and gear, or build a full system around it.
