The classic phono stage that just works

The Pro-Ject Phono Box is the entry point to Pro-Ject's phono stages. It accepts both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges through a rear-panel switch, then feeds a clean line output straight to your amplifier. A small footprint means it sits neatly beside the record player. Sold as a single unit in black.

Under the Hood

  • MM and MC loading. 47 kΩ for moving magnet and 100 Ω for moving coil, both at 120 pF.
  • Ultra-low output impedance. The output stage drives your amplifier cleanly with up to 9.5 V maximum output at 1 kHz.
  • Accurate RIAA. The equalisation curve holds to within 0.5 dB across 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Pro Tip: Switch to MC only if your cartridge is a moving coil design. Most starter cartridges are moving magnet, so leave it on MM and 40 dB gain.
