One Small Box, A Whole Streaming System
The WiiM Amp Pro Streaming Amplifier is WiiM's second-generation streaming amplifier, combining a network streamer, a premium DAC and a stereo power amp in a chassis measuring just 190 x 190 x 63mm. It delivers 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms, or 120 watts into 4 ohms, driving a stereo pair through standard speaker terminals. Sold as a single unit in an aluminium finish.
Why You'll Love It
- A full system in one box. Streamer, DAC and amplifier are built into a single unit, so a pair of passive speakers is all you need to add for a complete hi-fi.
- Every streaming service in one app. The WiiM Home app pulls Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, TuneIn and more into one place, with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Chromecast built in.
- Connects to your TV. HDMI ARC with Dolby Digital support lets the Amp Pro handle TV sound as well as music, and a dedicated subwoofer output adds bass when you want it.
Under the Hood
- ES9038 Q2M SABRE DAC. A 32-bit/384kHz ESS SABRE DAC feeds the analog stage, rated at -105dB THD+N and a 120dB signal-to-noise ratio.
- 60W into 8 ohms, 120W into 4 ohms. Post-filter feedback keeps distortion low under load, and the output can be set for stereo or dual-mono operation.
- Room correction and full EQ. Built-in room correction plus a 10-band graphic EQ and a 4-band parametric EQ let you tune the sound, and the subwoofer output has a user-adjustable 30 to 200Hz crossover.
CHT Insider Verdict
The Amp Pro is one of the easiest ways to build a proper streaming hi-fi from scratch. Add a set of bookshelf speakers and you have a complete system that streams almost everything and takes TV sound over HDMI ARC. The upgraded SABRE DAC and post-filter feedback amplifier are a clear step up from the standard WiiM Amp on paper, and streaming runs over Wi-Fi through Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Chromecast and the WiiM Home app, with Bluetooth on hand for direct connections from a phone.
Pro Tip: Plug it into your TV's HDMI ARC port and set the TV audio output to PCM or Dolby Digital, then run a subwoofer from the sub output and set the crossover around 80Hz for a compact system that handles both films and music.
