Denon's flagship home theatre amplifier, made in Japan
The Denon AVC-X6800H AV Receiver is designed and manufactured in Japan and built to anchor a serious home cinema. It drives 11.4 channels of amplification with 13.4 channel processing, so it can grow into full height-speaker layouts as your room does. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced and Auro 3D are all on board, along with 8K video and HEOS wireless streaming.
Why You'll Love It
- Designed and made in Japan. The AVC-X6800H is built in Denon's own Japanese facility with a monolithic power amplifier construction for clean channel separation and detail.
- Every major 3D format. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, Auro 3D and 360 Reality Audio are supported, with upmixers to bring older content into three dimensions.
- Ready for 8K and gaming. 8K passes through on all seven HDMI inputs, with VRR, QFT and ALLM for low-lag gaming and Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR support.
Under the Hood
- Eleven channels of power. A monolithic 11-channel amplifier is rated at 140 watts per channel (8 Ω, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 0.05%, two channels driven).
- Room-filling flexibility. 13.4 channel processing, up to four independent subwoofer outputs and pre-amplifier mode let you build layouts such as 7.1.6 or 9.1.4 with an added two-channel amp.
- Precise calibration. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 with SubEQ HT is built in, with optional Dirac Live and Dirac Live Bass Control upgrades and Denon's AL32 Processing on every channel.
CHT Insider Verdict
This is where Denon's home theatre range reaches reference grade. The AVC-X6800H has the amplifier power, the processing headroom and the connectivity to run a large, modern cinema without feeling stretched, and the Japanese build quality shows in the detail. If you want a receiver you will not outgrow in a hurry, this is it.
Pro Tip: To reach a full 7.1.6 or 9.1.4 height layout, add a two-channel external power amplifier to the pre-outs and let the AVC-X6800H handle the 13.4 channel processing.
