This adapter is only designed to be used with Sonos products. It is to be used with Sonos products which have an eARC/ARC HDMI input when trying to connect to a TV which does not have a eARC/ARC HDMI connection but has an Optical output. 

So this adapter plugs into the optical output of your TV and you then you connect a HDMI cable from the adapter to your supported Sonos products HDMI eARC/ARC input.

It does not convert from eARC/ARC HDMI from your TV to an Optical input. So this product does not work with the RAY.
