The brushed black fascia is clean with no notable marks, the factory feature sticker is still in place across the front, and the rear panel is immaculate with every speaker terminal, pre-out and socket unmarked.

It is complete: the RC-1252 remote, the Audyssey calibration microphone and stand, the aerials, the power cord and the documentation are all present, in the original carton. Nothing to source separately before you can run a full calibration. One only, at a substantial saving over the $4,299 RRP.

The X4800H is the model where the Denon range crosses a real line. Everything below it is assembled offshore; from here up the receivers are designed and built in Denon's own Japanese facilities and voiced by the Denon Sound Master. That shows in the processing as much as the build, with AL32 Processing Multichannel, a 32-bit D.D.S.C-HD digital section and a clock jitter reducer.

Nine channels at 125 watts with eleven channels of processing behind them means a 9.1.2 or 7.1.4 layout runs directly, and a stereo power amplifier on the pre-outs opens up the full 11-channel arrangement later without replacing the processor. Four independent subwoofer outputs let the bottom end be distributed rather than split.

The format list is complete, including the ones often missing at this price: Dolby Atmos and DTS:X of course, but also IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D and 360 Reality Audio. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is built in and the hardware is Dirac Live upgradable.

Seven HDMI inputs and three outputs handle 8K/60 and 4K/120 with VRR and ALLM, so a projector and a television can both stay connected and a console gets what it needs. Three zones, HEOS, AirPlay 2 and a moving-magnet phono input finish it.

Main Specifications

Configuration: 9 powered channels, 11.4 channel processing, discrete power amplifier with assignable bi-amp

Power Output: 125 W per channel (8 Ω, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.05% THD, two channels driven)

Immersive Audio: Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master, DTS Neural:X, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D, 360 Reality Audio, MPEG-H

Processing: AL32 Processing Multichannel, 32-bit D.D.S.C-HD, Pure Direct, clock jitter reducer

Room Correction: Audyssey MultEQ XT32 with Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume and LFC; Dirac Live upgradable

HDMI: 7 inputs / 3 outputs, 8K/60 and 4K/120, HDCP 2.3, eARC

Video: HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, Dynamic HDR; ALLM and VRR for gaming

Analogue Inputs: 6, including moving-magnet phono

Digital Inputs: 2 optical, 2 coaxial

Outputs: 11.4 multichannel pre-out, 4 independent subwoofer outputs

Zones: 3

Streaming: HEOS, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TuneIn; Roon Tested

Network: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

Control: RS-232C, IR in and out, 3 DC trigger outputs

Tuner: AM/FM

In the Box: RC-1252 remote, Audyssey calibration microphone and stand, aerials, power cord, documentation, original carton

Origin: Designed and manufactured in Japan

Power Consumption: 710 W (0.1 W standby)

Dimensions (W×D×H): 434 × 389 × 167 mm

Weight: 13.4 kg

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0064/4376/1716/files/denon-av-receivers-avcx4800h-exdemo-1260909888.jpg?v=1791030549
